The room was perfect for a family. One double bed and two singles so the children did not have to share which always causes arguments. The location was good, in a quiet area but close enough to the town centre. Staff were friendly and the locals in the bar were friendly. Plenty of tea bags etc in the room and plug sockets. The room was very clean and smelt clean too. Plenty of storage in the room. We only stayed one night so didn’t need it but if you were staying longer there was a wardrobe and large chest of drawers.

First of all, the building, as you come upon it, looks amazing, an old stone construction rising high up from its neighbours. The friendly barman (added bonus point: there's a small and cosy pub downstairs, with a fair size beer garden for when it's sunny) who doubles as receptionist told me that it was originally built to house the Queen's servants when she used to visit St. Leonard's/ Hastings (her own place was behind it somewhere, unfortunately I didn't have time to check it out). The room was on the second floor and nice, light, and clean. Own fair sized bathroom. Humongous TV if that's your thing. Great view over the rooftops of the houses in front to the sea (prob around 300 feet away). Everything clean and reasonably smart Very happy about the whole stay, would stay there again (also, St Leonards, while having a quite tatty seafront, gets a whole lot nicer from a block inland, where the hotel is).
